The one IRS agent who actually explained my S-corp filing mistake
Back in March I called the IRS helpline in Austin about a late 2553 form and got this agent who spent 20 minutes walking me through the exact penalty waiver path. She said 'most people file this wrong because they mail it to the wrong campus,' and that one sentence saved me $180. Has anyone else had a surprisingly helpful phone rep break down a filing rule that finally clicked?

Wait until you have to call them about a payroll penalty. That's when the wait times get real. I've had decent luck with the Austin folks too but its hit or miss, one time I got a guy who kept putting me on hold to check his fantasy football picks. $180 is nice but honestly most of this stuff is just common sense if you read the instructions twice, which nobody does.
