I disagree with the 'always send a reminder the day before' advice everyone pushes here

I read a post last week where someone swore you have to email clients 24 hours before a due date or you're asking for trouble. Honestly after 7 years freelancing in Chicago I found that just makes some clients ignore you faster because they think you're nagging. Has anyone else tried holding off reminders until the day after the due date and got better results?

Yeah, I've had the same experience - the day after reminder works way better for actual responses.

not to be that guy but i feel like people overthink this whole timing thing way too much. like yeah maybe sending a reminder the next day gets a couple more replies but is it really making or breaking your whole conversation? half the time people just reply when they feel like it regardless of when you ping them again. i dunno maybe im wrong but i just send a message when i remember and if they dont answer they dont answer. seems like a lot of effort for something that probly doesnt matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

Do you think there's a specific time of day that works best for that follow-up reminder?
