Threw $250 at a professional portfolio review and it actually paid off
I was stuck in a rut with my design portfolio, getting a few views but zero job leads. Finally got frustrated enough to hire a guy named Marcus who does portfolio critiques for a living. Cost me $250 for a one-hour video call where he went through every project I had. He told me my case studies were way too long and nobody reads past the first paragraph. I cut everything down to short bullet points and a single before-and-after image per project. Within three weeks I got two messages from agencies who actually looked at my work instead of just ghosting. Has anyone else tried paying for a portfolio review or is that just throwing money away?

$250 is cheap if Marcus actually gets you results, that's the gamble though.

Hear someone out who's actually hired Marcus before? Because $250 can get you a solid consult or it can get you a guy who charges extra for every single follow-up question. I'd want to know if that price includes a full breakdown of findings or just a few generic tips. Like does he show you specific weak points in your current setup or just tell you to network harder.
