I compared my fancy Behance gallery against a bare-bones Notion page where I just listed 5 projects with screenshots and bullet points, and the Notion page brought in leads while Behance had been sitting cold for 6 months, has anyone else ditched the design platforms for something simpler?
I was stuck in a rut with my design portfolio, getting a few views but zero job leads. Finally got frustrated enough to hire a guy named Marcus who does portfolio critiques for a living. Cost me $250 for a one-hour video call where he went through every project I had. He told me my case studies were way too long and nobody reads past the first paragraph. I cut everything down to short bullet points and a single before-and-after image per project. Within three weeks I got two messages from agencies who actually looked at my work instead of just ghosting. Has anyone else tried paying for a portfolio review or is that just throwing money away?
I spent ages tweaking my site after suggestions. By the time it was ready, the client hired someone else. Move fast or lose out.
