My 3-round revision limit cut my rework time by 60% in just one month

I used to let clients revise logos as many times as they wanted, and I had one lady in Seattle go through 14 rounds on a single business card. Now I put a hard cap of 3 revisions in my contract, with any extra rounds billed at $75 an hour. It forced me to ask better questions upfront about what they actually wanted, and now most projects wrap up in round 2. Has anyone else tried a hard cap like this and seen their clients actually respect it?

Ask what happens when a client insists a round 2 revision doesn't count because they changed their mind about the whole direction. That's the one loophole I've seen clients try to exploit the most, and it usually ends up eating up way more time than the hard cap saves.

Oh yeah I once had a client ask me to redesign their logo because their dog didn't like the color blue.

Hard caps are the only way to protect your time and sanity honestly. That Seattle lady story gives me war flashbacks because I've been there with unlimited revision cycles too. Setting boundaries early forces both you and the client to get clear from the start.
